Volunteer Club – “Friends of HLWE”

Being hospitalise can be confusing, stressful, lonely, even frightening experiences to some patients. At HLWE, we understand that emotion and social well-being are important to the healing process. We believed that the hospital volunteer could be one of the integral team in helping our hospital to continue its commitment to excellence while contributing their skills and time in helping patients on their road to recovery.
With this in mind, Medical Social Work Department first started with hospital's mobile library program in February 2011. In 2nd August 2003, we decided to set up a Volunteer Club in order to expand our services such as befriending, art and craft, play activities besides the mobile library program. We call ourselves “Friends of HLWE”. It was officially launched on 14th November 2003 by our Volunteer Club.

About Objectives

The club has 2 objectives:
  1. To provide a warm, friendly and care environment for the patients on their road to recovery;
  2. To provide opportunities for the volunteers to find personal enrichment in learning, sharing and establishing meaningful friendship, while contributing their time and talents in helping patients on their road to recovery. Hence, our motto is “We Care, We Serve, We Grow”.
