Kids Fitness Club Dedicated to Raise Smart and Healthy Kids
The “Raising Smart and Healthy Kids” workshop organized by the Kids Fitness Club, at the 7th floor Resource Centre, on 19th March 2017, gained support of about 50 parents and children. The workshop aimed to share and encourage fellow parents on how to raise smart and healthy children.
The workshop began at 9:00a.m with a fitness assessment for the Kids Fitness Club members. After the fitness assessment, the parents were ushered to the 7th Floor training room for the workshop, while the children were brought to the Resource Centre for a fun and relaxing exercise session.
The workshop for parents started with the “Fit Kids make Smart Kids” talk given by Dr. Adele Tan, our Kids Fitness Club Chairman. Dr. Adele shared with fellow parents on how to raise smart children in a healthy way. Dr. Adele also emphasized the importance of ensuring that the children eat healthy food and exercise appropriately, so that they can focus better in class. After Dr. Adele’s talk, Ms. Khoo An Jo, our Chief Dietician gave a talk on “Brain Food for Kids”. Ms. Khoo shared with the parents on the types of nutritional food that are beneficial for physical development of the children.
During the workshop for parents, the children were entertained with gym fun time with Mr. Wyn Lee, our honoured guest and Certified Fitness Instructor. Mr. Lee taught the children a few practical exercise routines, which the children can practice at home.
After the workshop, the participants were served with healthy refreshments. Then, the Physiotherapist team entertained the participants with a “Family Brain Teaser Games” session. The participants were divided into two groups- Group A and Group B, for some simple, brain challenges. Group B emerged as the winner of the brain teaser session and Group A came in second. At the prize giving ceremony, everyone received a prize because everyone is a winner. The event ended after the prize giving ceremony.
