Learning Outcomes :
At the end of the 3-year Diploma Nursing Programme, the graduate will be able to:

  1. Provide quality and holistic care to clients in the clinical setting.
  2. Apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
  3. Demonstrate caring attitude, teamwork, professionalism and continuous quality improvement in the provision of quality and holistic care.
  4. Communicate effectively and work collaboratively as a team with patients, families and the community as well as other healthcare professionals.
  5. Participate in nursing research activities.
  6. Contribute to the betterment of the community through health related activities.
  7. Assume responsibility for continuing personal and professional development.

2. Nursing Sciences
  • Basic Nursing Science I & II
  • Nursing Science I - X (Altered System Functions)
  • Specialized Nursing Science I - V (Gynaecological & Obstetric Nursing, Paediatric Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, Introduction to Critical Care Nursing, Emergency Nursing, including basic life support)
  • Community Health Nursing I & II

    Note: Clinical practice is integrated in Nursing Sciences

Nursing Practicum
The Nursing Practicum enables the students to correlate theory with practice.

Hospital Lam Wah Ee provides the clinical setting for nursing practicum while the health clinics in Air Puteh and Teluk Bahang, Penang provide the community setting for community health nursing practice.

Skills Laboratory in the College provides a practice environment for students to strengthen specific nursing skills.
 
Student Assessment & Examination
Purpose:
1. To certify the nurse is qualified, competent and safe to practise nursing.
2. To qualify for registration with the Malaysian Nursing Board.
 
Types of Assessment & Examination
  • Theory: Formative and summative examinations
  • Practical: Clinical assessments
  • Lam Wah Ee Nursing College Final Professional Examination
  • Malaysian Nursing Board Registration Examination
 

Hospital Lam Wah Ee offers full sponsorship for the entire 3-year Diploma Nursing Programme.
Graduates are required to serve Hospital Lam Wah Ee for six (6) years on completion of the programme.
